Yes, it’s 16th of September in Malaysia and yes, nothing change, but are you watching closely? Look at the smile on the face of our politicians on the news today; is it a smile of victory? Or is it a smile of satisfaction? How different are those two traits? If you look real close, it is the same smile that carved on a magic show audience face who thinks he knows the trick but he does not, because he is not watching closely… or he does not want to know the truth?
As said in The Prestige, a magic show contains three acts: 1st is the pledge, where the performer shows you something ordinary; 2nd is the turn, the performer makes that ordinary thing becomes extraordinary; and lastly, the prestige, the performer brought back the ordinary thing.
It is the same situation happens in Malaysia. The people had been the audience for 51 years, watching the magician trying to fool them on stage. But this time, why are the magicians having the smile that belongs to the audience? Apparently there is a twist. The magicians still think they are controlling the audience not knowing that the audience has put up a twist to them. That is what happens when a magician too proud of his one trick and thought that it can fool the audience forever.
On the stage, a show is not really defines as a show if audience is absents. So, close situation here but not same, is a government still a government if it is not supported by its people? The election on 8th of March and the by election at Permatang Pauh clearly shows where the people are going. Have the government follow? If not, is it still the government of the people?
If you think that nothing change on the 16th of September, watch closely. Because this time, you are in the show, the magicians are the audience. Most important is, this time you do not want to be the audience. You are too smart to clap for a boring trick that you had been force to watch over and over for 51 years without any change.
