There is an old Chinese proverb: It is the water that floats the canopy, and it will as well sink it. Did you notice that you actually have power? At least it is clear in how you want your society to run by obeying your leader, you are the one who give them the power. If no one listen to them, they are just some nuts talking nonsense on the street that you might probably think they belong in the asylum. On the other hand, if you listen to them and actually do what they tell you to, you are handing them your power. This is the basic of political power.
As time goes by, people invented violence, from bare hand hitting those who does not agrees with you to guns and bombs that will probably destroy the world. A weapon is a much physical power. Once again, who give them the power to use these weapons? You! The guns and bombs are just dead things doing their job and are the leaders that you choose used them. Who do they use for? Terrorist, criminals, opposition leaders and you if you change your mind that you want your power back, from them. Fascinating, isn’t it?
Now a much more complicated but powerful weapons were invented, the media. It appears that those who controls the media, controls the people’s mind; those who controls the people’s mind will have the power. This is why the government always threatens our media and always has someone put an eye on them. They even naïvely thought that they can control the world by having the media work for them. They miss out something, aren’t they? What is the use of media if there is no one listening to it? Again, we have the power.
So it is all about power isn’t it? It always come back to the basic, it’s we who give them the power. Beware who you listen to because you are giving them your power (including me). The good news is, your power does not work for them and it never will, unless of course you want them to. Therefore, do not simply listen to people who order you do things. Because it is not just you and the person who order, it is about where you put your power into. Either you contribute your power to make the world a better place or you are destroying it. In this case there is no middle path.
The point is, be confident in your power and use it for good. Do not afraid of anyone especially the government. They will abuse the power you give them to do things against you. A line from “V-for Vendetta”: The people shouldn’t be afraid of the government; the government should be afraid of the people.” because we are the one who give it to them. Realize your power and control it whoever you are, do not give yourself any reason that someone is controlling your power. The power is yours.
