What Make Us Stay?

What make us stay in life?

Fear? Fear of death? Fear of pain? Responsibility?

Why don't we end our life, ended all these material illusions that bring us joy and sorrow, which we cannot bring with us forever?

What is the real force behind all this that keep us living?

I was watching the movie Tsotsi, where Tsotsi asked a paralysed old man who beg for a living on a wheelchair, why he still wants to live, since he is living like a dog?

That old man said because he loves to feel the sun shining on the street and on himself in the morning.

Is that sufficient to keep us from living? I do not have an answer.

When I looked at the picture I felt slightly guilty.
Anyway, people like them wanted to live much longer because they have the strong belief and passion to survive. They're still hoping that somebody would pick them up and give them a better shelter and care.
I can also say that they have some unfinished business like hatred, promises that might come true, or maybe they are still waiting for somebody close to them.
As time passed by they have accepted their destination already and time can tell if when it has to end

This is a difficult question :)I've thought this many times, as well. And, I have to believe that for those who want to stay (and who suffer,) it's either out of fear, or the realization of how fortunate we are to be "alive" in the first place.
